Divine Flame

Oba 1:18 And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau; for the LORD hath spoken it.

The imagery of a Fire is used in describing the refining role of God. Gold cannot be pure until fire has removed the impurities. Fire keeps off flies and demons. The proud and all that do wickedly sometimes need to be shown that the God we serve created the sun and all the stars …and they are as stubble only awaiting destruction.

The Church is like a fire … its ministers are flames that will not be put out. There are fire extinguishers –wrong relationships, strange marriages and compromising with worldliness. There are smoldering fires about to go out ….tired and weakened by long periods without prayer and sin … but Christ fans the smoldering flames back.

Isa 42:3 A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.
Heb 1:7 And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.

God is a consuming fire. Esau is likened to stubble. The fire of God is a holy fire … the Holy Spirit is pictured as tongues of fire on the apostles at Pentecost. The fire is maintained by God and will not go out if we remain in Him. There are younger flames that must be protected and there are blazing flames moving fast into enemy territory. What kind of flame are you? Are you growing or is the fire smoking out? Go to God for a fresh touch and for fresh fire. Know that there are extinguishers to be kept at a safe distance. Every extinguisher of divine fire planted to kill the flame of God will be uprooted and burnt away – never to be planted again in your destiny. Keep glowing. Keep burning. Do not let your fire go out.

Song.
Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee;
Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessèd Trinity!

Holy, holy, holy! All the saints adore Thee,
Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;
Cherubim and seraphim falling down before Thee,
Who was, and is, and evermore shall be.

Holy, holy, holy! though the darkness hide Thee,
Though the eye of sinful man Thy glory may not see;
Only Thou art holy; there is none beside Thee,
Perfect in power, in love, and purity.

Prayer: Lord of Hosts, may your Holy Fire burn freely through me. Let demons flee our lives because of the fire of God in us. Amen

The Songs of Joseph is an integration of encouragement scriptural devotions, prayers and a compendium of songs of mercy, salvation, new beginnings and victory. We can expect as we trust and obey that our end will indeed be ultimately glorious because God works His marvellous agenda. Be blessed as you read and sing along, daily. Edited by Bolade Apampa
