Life is not just about eating and drinking. There will be times of plenty and times of dearth. God expects us to live through both.
Php_4:12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
There are occasions when we suffer need and cannot find the answers. We expect God to move at all times … but God sometimes wants us to stand through it all. For many their philosophy is to eat and live well … and ofcourse to complain when things do not add up as expected. When we have not learnt to suffer need, we can be easily manipulated by the prospect of making gains. In this text, there is a dearth and many begin to complain about the lack. But the real target of this distraction was the great work of building. It had to be stopped.
May we be like Paul … able to work in all situations and not distracted …not discouraged or used as an instrument to hurt the work of others. The Kingdom of God is not food and drink. May we see God and live. For our life is in God. That life is first spiritual life … and we may suffer many needs yet be alive in God.
In a similar vein, a business can go through cycles which include periods of difficulty.

The most damaging distraction is often disguised as a worthy cause.
Suggestions for Prayer
Lord teach me to live for you and not for self.
As Nehemiah’s wall was built, so will we see a reconstruction in all that may appear in distress and in waste. Nehemiah trusted and feared God, putting his faith in the Almighty whose strength is limitless to exceed all our expectations. I am praying someone with a burden to be used by God in building will receive a fresh vision and get the job done.
